Daily field trips require walking or skiing to training site in glaciated backcountry wilderness. All participants must be equipped with proper clothing and equipment, as follows: Touring gear (skis / snowboard, boots, skins) Shovel Climbing Helmet Snow Study Kit Transceiver First Aid Kit Probe Compass Snow Saw Altimeter Repair Kit 7 Carabiners (4 locking) Water Bottle Tiblocs (2) Harness Reverso Mini Traxion Headlamp with extra batteries Swiss Army or Leatherman type tool Goggles, sunglasses and Sunscreen 2 guide slings (7mm perlon cord, 5m length) 1 personal prusik (7mm perlon cord, 1.25 m length) 2 anchor slings (19 - 26mm webbing, 5 m length) 1 rescue rope (7-9 mm, 30m length) Climbing Rope (10 - 11mm, 40 - 60m length) Tent or Bivy sac for winter camping Sleeping Bag, suitable for winter camping Sleeping Pad (closed cell foam or Thermarest type) Waterproof field book (Write in the Rain type) Ice Axe (summer course only) Crampons (summer course only) Adequate clothing for backcountry skiing Insulated jacket or clothing for extended delays in the mountains Casual clothing for classroom lectures Guides Pack 35 -55 liters Topographical Maps
